G1 is not perfect but it's superior to a lot of smart phones on the market. I see what you're saying as far as the battery life, but you can always turn off the 3G. Plus, you don't necessarily have to sit near a power outlet because you can charge it on your laptop as well. I'm loving my G1 and wouldn't trade it for nothing right now.
