John McCain Gets BarackRoll’d

This is too funny. I’m sure this will go down as one of those Youtube classics along with the guys on the treadmills, the evolution of dance and Chocolate Rain.

I had to do some research this morning in order to finally figure out the story behind the ‘roll’d concept. While this is the first I’ve seen of a video getting BarackRoll’d, I’m sure many of you are familiar with the more common RickRoll’d concept.

Thanks to my old friend Wikipedia, I feel as though I’m no longer in the dark. They describe the action of rickrolling as an “internet meme”. One sec, now I’ve got to figure out what a meme is. Oh okay, Wikipedia saves the day again by letting me know that a meme is actually a “neologism used to describe a catchphrase or concept that spreads quickly.” Hold up. Did they just say neologism? Damnit. A neologism, per Wikipedia’s explanation, is a “newly-created word, term, phrase, or expression that has been coined recently, often to apply to new concepts, to synthesize pre-existing concepts, or to make older terminology sound more contemporary.”

I don’t do neologism and am still pretty sure that isn’t a word. I hate you Wikipedia.

All made up words and other unnecessary information about RickRolling aside, it is an internet prank that leads viewers to believe the link they are clicking will take them to an interesting video, website or other link- only to redirect the user to the video for “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.

Everybody got it now? I know keeping up with these internet meme’s is difficult.

BTW: Here’s the link to the unreleased version of Kanye West’s new single “Love Lockdown”
